Excellium Pro Concentrate: TotalEnergies Angola Reduces the Carbon Footprint of Its Offshore Fleet

The deployment of Excellium Pro Concentrate by TotalEnergies Additives & Fuels Solutions has been a success for the fleet operated by TotalEnergies E&P Angola. This initiative, conducted in partnership with Bourbon, demonstrates the tangible impact of our solutions on energy performance, cost reduction, and the improvement of the environmental footprint in the maritime sector.

An Ambitious Pilot Project on the TEEPA Fleet

TotalEnergies FPSO CLOV, Angola

Between January and June 2024, five vessels from the TEEPA (TotalEnergies E&P Angola) fleet, three crewboats and two Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs), operating on blocks 17, 32, and at the port of Luanda, were selected to test the Excellium Pro Concentrate additive in their marine gas oil (MGO). The analysis, conducted by Opsealog, relied on more than 1,700 daily reports, comparing periods with and without the additive using a rigorous methodology and weekly monitoring.

Excellium Pro Concentrate: Measured and Immediate Benefits

Excellium Pro Concentrate is a 100% organic, multifunctional additive designed to:

  • Optimize energy efficiency and engine protection
  • Eliminate injector deposits and improve combustion
  • Prevent wear, fuel degradation, water contamination, and corrosion

Easy to implement, it offers a “quick win” for the fleet, with no negative impact on engines.

Results: Savings and Emissions Reduction

The study quantified the following gains, extrapolated to an annual consumption of 80,000 tonnes of MGO for the TEPA fleet.

During the test period, the fleet recorded an average reduction of 3.3% in MGO consumption, representing approximately USD 1.5 million in savings and 3,600 tonnes of CO₂ emissions avoided. For the crewboats, the consumption model confirmed an average benefit of 4.8% over a representative operational period.
